Fundraising and the hard work of volunteers are vital parts of maintaining the programs and services provided by the Library. The Kent Memorial Library is one of our town’s most important cultural resources, and it’s the only one that is available to everyone, adults, teens and children alike. Since taxpayer support covers roughly 30% of the operating budget, additional resources are necessary to maintain our collection, carry on a dynamic and diverse set of programs, and maintain our facility. Through gifts of time, talent, and treasure, the philanthropy of patrons allows us to continue our services which connect to all segments of the community.
Guided by the efforts of the board, the library raises funds through a variety of programs. Membership in the Library Association supports our operating budget. In addition, we accept annual donations for both restricted and unrestricted purposes.
We have three major fundraising events are the Spring Garden Party and Auction Benefit, the Car Raffle, and the Book Sale.

Additionally, many patrons establish Planned Giving Programs which can be used to increase our endowment or support capital projects. Learn more about how to make a gift.
In 2007, we established the Cheryl McDowell Memorial Fund to provide special programs for the youngest library users.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Library’s ability to succeed. There are many ways you can volunteer to help the library.
