hoopla is a service that provides streaming movies, TV shows, music, audiobooks, eBooks, and comics.

To use hoopla, you’ll need a current card from the Kent Memorial Library in good standing — not expired or with more than minimal fines. You can download the app from the App Store (iOS 6+ required), on Google Play, or from Amazon apps for the Kindle Fire. On a mobile device, you can choose to stream or download content. You can also access hoopla on your PC or Mac at hoopladigital.com.

There are no overdue fines with hoopla. There are specific lending periods: 3 days for movies and TV show episodes, 7 days for music, 21 days for audiobooks, eBooks, and comics. You can’t keep or transfer the content; it goes away after the loan period.

You may borrow up to 5 titles per month.

Sign In or Register for hoopla!

You’ll need to register with hoopla and create a password before you can use it on a mobile device or desktop. You can change your password, choose to receive notifications, and see your history of what you’ve borrowed with the “settings” tab.

The number of items you can borrow is limited to five per month for any combination of video, TV, music, and audiobooks. You can only borrow materials on hoopla if you have a Kent card in good standing, i.e. no missing materials, not expired, and with under $10 in fines. We anticipate heavy use of this service, and our funding for hoopla is quite limited. We are charged each time a patron borrows an item, and we don’t want to run out of funds before the end of the fiscal year! We also will limit the total amount that can be used by all patrons each month to ensure that all our funds aren’t used in the first month or two. If you try to go over your limit, or our funds are used up for the month, you’ll see a message that says the item is not available.

hoopla adds new titles throughout the month. Unlike most library ebook services, all titles are always available to multiple users at the same time. You can browse through the available titles in each format, or use the search bar to look for a specific title.
