COMPOSITION CONTRAST COLOR EXHIBITION @ KML
Press Release 8/25/17
(Kent, Connecticut) – The Kent Memorial Library is pleased to announce that Kent artist Juan J. Moreno will have his artwork displayed in the Library’s gallery from September 1 through October 31 in an exhibition titled Composition Contrast Color.
Born in Colombia, Moreno, studied at the atelier of David Manzur in Bogota, Colombia, before moving to Connecticut, where he has lived since 1986. He studied figure drawing and portrait painting at the Art Students League of New York and studio art at Western Connecticut State University, earning a B.A. and M.F.A. His work has been in many exhibitions and is in private collections. Juan taught studio art and art history at the college level in Connecticut.
“Departing from a strictly representational depiction of nature, I modify my paintings as I see necessary until I feel they are finished. I seek to explore the dynamics of color and the illusion of space within the limited two-dimensional canvas and invite the viewer to interpret my work and become part of the creative process,” says the artist.
Come meet the artist at reception on Saturday, October 21 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Gallery. It is free and open to the public. Please register. For more information, call 860-927-3761 or go to kentmemoriallibrary. The public is invited to attend.
