(Kent, Connecticut) –The Kent Memorial Library and the Kent Community Fund are excited to co-sponsor a multi-faceted workshop called Tips for Maintaining Safety in the Home. Presented by the New Milford VNA, you will learn many things about safe-proofing your home, how to avoid accidents, learn about the benefits of having a Lifeline in your home, and how to maintain safety with Body Mechanics – getting out of bed properly, walking down the stairs safely, getting up from a chair safely and tips on balance and movement, etc. This information will be useful to share or prepare for a parent, relative, friend or yourself!

Tips for Maintaining Safety in the Home is the first of many future Kent workshops and we are delighted to use the Reading Room at the Kent Memorial Library!”said Patricia Lawrence, Nursing Advisory Committee Chair, Kent Community Fund.
The Senior Center Shuttle will offer service from the Kent Senior Center following lunch on Monday, February 25. The workshop is from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Reading Room, Kent Memorial Library. The Kent Community Fund is a non-profit organization established in 2006 “to help individuals living in Kent meet emergency needs and to support community charitable programs serving Kent residents.” The Fund provides grants for the emergency needs of individuals and families in Kent, which are paid directly to service providers or vendors – fuel companies, utility companies, etc. The Fund is available after other sources such as fuel banks, government entitlements and special programs are utilized.
The New Milford Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, established in 1918 during the worldwide flu epidemic, is a non-profit health care agency dedicated to providing quality home care, Hospice and public health services. The home care and Hospice programs are Medicare Certified and State of Connecticut licensed. They accept Medicare, Medicare, private insurance and direct payment for services. The New Milford VNA serves Danbury, Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, New Fairfield, New Milford, Roxbury, Sherman, Southbury, Warren, Washington, and Woodbury.
